| Description | The entrance to the Sentinel Hotel, in Portland, Oregon, in 2015. Until 2014, the hotel was named the Governor Hotel, and its entrance has been located in this building since 2004. This 1923 building facing SW 11th Avenue was originally the Elks Temple, and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places under that name. In the mid-1980s, it became the Princeton Building, and although it became part of the Governor Hotel only a few years later (in 1992), the Princeton name was kept in place on the façade until 2014, when the hotel was renamed by new owners. The "Princeton" signage has since been removed, and the original "Elks Temple" signage thereby restored, as can be seen here. |
