Summary

Description
English: House at 1522 E. Jefferson St., near the Providence campus of Swedish Hospital, Squire Park, Seattle, Washington, USA. The house was once the home of George Washington Carmack, discover of gold in the Yukon in 1897. Seattle's Landmarks Preservation Board was supposed to consider the house for landmark status February 18, 2009, but some time between November 2008 and January 23, 2009 professional thieves apparently stripped nearly all of the architecturally significant elements from the interior. See Benjamin Lukoff, Architectural theft at historic Carmack House in Squire Park, Seattle History Examiner, 2009-02-05; see also Inside Historic 1522 E Jefferson Pt. 1, originally on vintageseattle.org at the Wayback Machine, 2008-03-27 for what the interior looked like before the vandalism and Summary for 1522 E Jefferson ST E / Parcel ID 7942600795, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, for various notes and a 1937 photo.
