Summary

Description Promotional postcard for the Sam Houston Zephyr which was operated jointly by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad and the Rock Island Railroad. Service began on the line on 1 October 1936 and ultimately ended in 1966. This is a depiction of the first trainset of the service. Built by Budd, it was in service from 1936 until 1944, when the entire train was destroyed by fire while it was operating under the Rock Island's jurisdiction. A different style of trainset replaced it.
