Description
English: Sachsenspiegel, showing the German Ostsiedlung. Upper part: the locator (with a special hat) receives the foundation charter from the landlord. The settlers clear the forest and build houses. Lower part: the locator acts as the judge in the village.
Deutsch: Szene aus dem Heidelberger Sachsenspiegel, die die deutsche Ostsiedlung um 1300 darstellt. Im oberen Bildteil erhält ein Lokator (mit Hut) eine Gründungsurkunde von einem Grundherrn und beginnt mit der Gründung eines Dorfes. Im unteren Bildteil agiert er in einem fertiggestellten Dorf als Richter.
