Summary[edit]

File information
Description

The German light cruiser SMS Hamburg; the NHHC states that the photo was taken "off San Francisco, California, prior to World War I." But Hamburg never visited the United States during her career in the Imperial Navy, so the photo caption either mis-places the ship, mis-dates the photo, or, more likely, the photo is actually her sister SMS Bremen.
