Description Shah Mahmud Hotak, son of Mirwais Khan Hotak from Kandahar in Afghanistan, defeated the Persian Empire (Shia Safavids) in early 1700s and became King of Persia in 1722.

Works of Afghan origin that were no longer under copyright in Afghanistan on July 29, 2016 are not copyrighted in the U.S. due to a previous lack of copyright relations between the U.S. and Afghanistan.
