Summary
| Description | Example of a ROV control station in the field. Here, the SCINI ROV operating out of an ice hut at Cape Armitage, Antarctica. Multiple displays are required to pilot the ROV and conduct science. From left, monitor (A) provides the engineering display such as thruster and light settings, (B) is a large camera display for the ROV pilot and (C) is the navigation information based on a short baseline acoustic positioning system. The scientist operates at station (D), where image data, position data and manual observations are combined in a process called 'image annotation' to provide a comprehensive data set of a dive. |
