English: SAR Class 6E E1172 ex E1146 Location: Stikland, Cape Town Renumbering: In the 1990s Bellville Depot was authorised to repaint eight Class 6Es in blue livery for use with the Blue Train. The authorisation was for numbers E1171 to E1178. In the process three locomotives that were considered to be "better" candidates, E1146, E1157 and E1223, exchanged road numbers with E1172, E1177 and E1174 respectively. E1172 as depicted here is therefore actually E1146, the first Class 6E built.

Textual information (e.g. timestamp) once visible in the image itself has been moved into the image metadata and/or image description page. This makes the image easier to reuse and more language-neutral, and makes the text easier to process and search for. Commons discourages placing visible textual information in images. All licenses accepted on Commons permit this type of modification as a derivative work.
