Description
English: A gold penannular ear ring of Roman date.

It is a penannular hoop with a thickened centre and tapered, chopped terminals. In profile the ear ring is sub-circular, and it is circular in section. It may be a Roman ear ring of Allason-Jones type 1. There is no decoration. Date: probably Roman.

Dimensions: Diameter: 22.74mm. Thickness: 4.37mm. Weighing: 9.4g.

The age and precious metal content of this item therefore qualify it as treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
