Summary

Nomogram for the quantitative risk assessment of food to guide sampling/analysis for the purposes of official control of food and to support the enforcement of food safety/consumer protection law. Author: Paul Lenartowicz, Public Analyst, working for the Public Analyst Service Ltd., undertaking research funded by the UK Food Standards Agency. The image was first published in the joint papers Risk Based Sampling of Food - A Scientific Approach to Sampling for Analysis, Vol.1: Risk Assessment for Sampling and Vol.2: Background and Support. These papers were published electronically by the Association of Public Analysts in 2002 on its website (www.the-apa.co.uk) and is (December 2008) in the process of being transferred to the Association's new website, www.publicanalyst.com. These papers containing the image were also presented to the UK Food Standards Agency in 2002, with the intention and re for dissemination to UK local authorities to guide the sampling of food for enforcement purposes.
