Español: El pueblo de Salamanca fue fundado el 13 de abril de 1843, por acuerdo de la Directiva de la Casa de Expósitos de Santiago, y designado con el nombre de Salamanca en homenaje de Doña Matilde Salamanca, la cual habría legado para obras piadosas los terrenos en que está asentada la localidad, además de sus valiosos contornos. English: The village of Salamanca was founded on April 13, 1843, by resolution of the Directors of the Orphans Home of Santiago, and designated by the name of Salamanca in honor of Doña Matilde Salamanca, which should bequest to pious works the land on which sits the town, plus valuable contours.
