Engelkonsole mit Rapperswiler Wappen um 1440/50. Sandsteinskulptur (Abguss) «Die Konsole mit den beiden Engeln, welche das Rapperswiler Wappen halten, stammt wohl aus der Turmsakristei der Stadtpfarrkirche Rapperswil. Der grosse Turm (Südturm) wurde um 1442 errichtet. Die durch dicke Mauern geschützte Turmsakristei und deren Ausstattung, mitsamt dem kostbaren Kirchenschatz überstand den Brand von 1882. Der kleinere Nordturm stammt aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, also aus der Zeit der Pfarreigründung.» Die Konsole wurde am Haus Burghof, Hauptplatz 8 (links des Burgaufstiegs) angebracht und befindet sich oberhalb des südöstlichen Eckpfeilers. |
