Stema comunei Vurpăr, potrivit anexei nr. 1.2, se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular albastru, cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat de un brâu undat de argint. În partea superioară se află o biserică formată din: un turn cu acoperiş ascuţit, ceas şi două ferestre în ţeapă; o navă principală cu acoperiş în două ape şi 3 ferestre în partea de sus, precum şi cu absidă laterală cu acoperiş în pantă, intrare şi 3 ferestre; pronaos cu acoperiş în două ape, ferestre şi contraforţi, totul de argint. În partea inferioară se află un snop de grâu între două tulpini cu porumb. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat. Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate: Brâul undat reprezintă pârâul Vurpăr, care străbate localitatea. Biserica fortificată reprezintă lăcaşul de cult construit în prima jumătate al secolul al XIII-lea şi, totodată, o mobilă heraldică vorbitoare, deoarece în limba germană „Vurpăr” = „Burgberg” = „Dealul Cetăţii”. Grâul şi porumbul simbolizează ocupaţia de bază a locuitorilor, agricultura. Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
