Roberts as Obama retakes takes the Oath of office of the President of the United States as the forty-fourth President of the United States at 19:35 EST, January 21, 2009 (00:35 UTC, January 22, 2009). Roberts recited the oath, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will to best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
