English: Maj. Gen. Vasily Novikov of the Caucasian Army (USSR,) and Brig. Gen. J. G. E. Tiarks of the 9th Armoured Brigade (UK,) inspect the troops, in course of preparations to the Joint Russo-British military parade in Tehran. Iran, September 1941.
Русский: Англо-советский парад в Тегеране в сентябре 1941 года – первый контакт между британскими и русскими солдатами во время войны. Генерал В. В. Новиков (Кавказская армия) и бригадный генерал У. Тиркс (9-й бронетанковая бригада) инспектируют парадный строй советских войск. Сентябрь 1941 года.

Разумеется, этот парад был не праздничным, торжественным мероприятием, а смотром готовности советских и английских войск к совместным действиям по выполнению боевых задач по реализации союзнических обязательств. В параде участвовали подразделения советской армии: от нашего артполка наш дивизион, кроме того, стрелковый, танковый батальоны, эскадрон кавалеристов, от английских войск участвовали – мотострелковые подразделения, подразделение мотоциклистов индийской армии в составе английских войск. (Индия тогда, по существу, была колонией Великобритании. Она завоевала свою независимость лишь после Второй мировой войны). На трибуне находились советские и английские военачальники, представители иранских властей, посольств стран-союзников. С краткими речами выступили представители советского и английского командования, военные оркестры поочередно исполняли марш, мелодии своих стран. Затем стройными рядами под звуки марша прошли мимо трибуны воинские подразделения. Наша горно-вьючная артиллерия была на конной тяге. наш дивизион тщательно готовился к параду: привели в порядок орудия, личное оружие, лошадей, сбрую и амуницию. Конечно же, свое обмундирование, обувь – сапоги со шпорами. Все блестело, имело опрятный вид. Прошли перед трибуной стройными рядами. Каждую пушку тянули две пары лошадей. Как артиллерийский разведчик я был вооружен пистолетом и клинком-шашкой, а за спиной – измерительно-оптический артиллерийский прибор – стереотруба в футляре. Ехал на своем коне по кличке «орел» со своими боевыми товарищами впереди своей батареи. Любопытно, интересно было наблюдать за прохождением подразделения мотоциклистов индийской армии (в составе английских войск). Все в чалмообразных головных уборах, с длинными черными бородами, смуглые, уже немолодые, в шортах. Это – к слову. Это мероприятие, незначительное на первый взгляд, свидетельствовало о постоянных деловых связях командований советских и английских союзных войск, в какой-то мере способствовало укреплению союзнических отношений на уровне военных. Это диктовалось самой обстановкой в Иране и сыграло положительную роль.
