Description / Descriptions : Lieutenant Colonel Bartholomew Gugy (flourishing late seventeenth/early eighteenth century) is said to have been a Swiss officer in the Dutch Army. His son Conrad was a member of the British Army who came to Canada in 1759 and settled in Canada leaving his estate to his younger brother Barthélemi. Barthélemi and his son Louis came to Canada in 1786. Louis was active in the militia of Lower Canada during the War of 1812 and was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada. /
