Take here a large view! Montpellier en francés y oficialmente, Montpelhièr en occitano, es una ciudad del sur de Francia, capital de la región de Languedoc-Rosellón y del departamento Hérault. Esta cruzada por dos ríos: el Lez al este, y el Mosson al oeste. Según los datos de 2005 contaba con una población de 244.300 habitantes, que si se incluía el área metropolitana sumaban 480.000 habitantes. En 2007 era la octava ciudad de Francia por su población intra-muros, es una de las pocas entre las ciudades de más de 100.000 habitantes, cuya población ha aumentado de forma ininterrumpida desde hace cincuenta años, periodo en el que ha doblado su población. La ciudad es un importante centro industrial, donde destacan los productos textiles, metalúrgicos, alimentarios, como el vino, editoriales y químicos.
