Description In July 1965, at a White House ceremony, President Lyndon B. Johnson was presented with a copy of Mariner 4's famous picture Number 11, which revealed large impact craters and other topographical features of Mars. From left are Dr. William H. Pickering, Director of JPL; Oran Nicks, NASA's Director of Lunar and Planetary Programs; Jack N. James, JPL's Mariner 4 Project Manager; President Johnson; and James Webb, NASA Administrator.
