Description
English: The Dr. Lowell Wormley House was built in 1949 and is located at 1910 E. Broadway Road. Dr. Lowell Wormley was born in Washington, D.C., and studied medicine at Howard University Medical School. When he arrived in Arizona in the mid-1940s, he was one of only three African-American doctors in Phoenix. He was on the staff of both St. Joseph's and Good Samaritan hospitals. He opened his own practice in 1946 in the Midtown Medical Building, 1 N. 12th St., and practiced there until the early 1980s. In 1949, he and his wife, Olivia, built this home on East Broadway Road. the house was listed in the Phoenix Historic Property Register in June 2005.
