Summary

Description
English: Elk's Lodge BPOE No. 2, later known as the Broadwood Hotel and sometimes the "Philadelphia Athletic Club" after a later tenant, on the NRHP since August 23, 1984. At 306–320 North Broad Street (Broad Street between Vine and Wood) Replaced by a parking lot sometime in the 1980s or 1990s, perhaps involving the construction of the Vine Street Expressway (I-676)

This is an advertisement showing the "new Philadelphia Elk's Club" (it was built in 1924). This may have been an advertisement in their magazine or also may have been a matchbook cover - for matches given out in the hotel. The BPOE #2 went bankrupt in 1929 trying to pay for the new building. No copyright notice appears on the work.

The ballroom of the hotel was used as a recording studio many times by Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Symphony, as well as by the basketball team the SPHAs (formerly South Philadelphia Hebrew Association), a predecessor of the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors.
