Description
English: The newly built Wilmington Rail Viaduct of the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington Railroad (Pennsylvania Railroad). The stone abutment on the right, for the Linden Street bridge behind the photographer, marks the north end of the brick viaduct and the beginning of retaining wall and fill construction. The middle and right tracks at ground level are the old PB&W main line; one of these tracks was removed after the completion of the viaduct and the other retained for local switching. The leftmost track is the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's Market Street Branch.
