Summary

Description
English: Pedigree of Pancatantra recensions and translations, and some related works as hypothesized by Edgerton in 1924. More recent scholarship generally places the text to about 300 BCE, with roots in more ancient fables of oral tradition. See Patrick Olivelle (2009), Pañcatantra: The Book of India's Folk Wisdom, Oxford University Press, Chapter: Introduction.
