Description
English: The original German marker for the grave of Captain Albert Ball, VC, DSO & 2 Bars, MC, Royal Flying Corps, shot down by Baron von Richthofen's squadron near Lens of Lens on 7 May 1917. The inscription reads, "Fallen in air battle for his fatherland, English flier Capt Albert Ball, Royal Flying Corps, killed 7 May 1917".
