Summary

Description
English: The estate of Oren D. Allyn, founder-developer of the Oakdale neighborhood of Holyoke, Massachusetts. Not seen in this photo is the rose garden which the Allyns would later grow, with 149 varieties, they would often give scions to the families whose houses they had built, and the garden attracted the attention of a Boston Globe writer who described it as an attraction of the city. The house still stands today on Locust Street, though the barn has since been demolished and the estate has been subdivided into other building lots.
