Optic_cup_and_macula_-_3D_motion_parallax.gif(706 × 497 pixels, file size: 594 KB, MIME type: image/gif, looped, 2 frames, 0.3 s)

This file is a stereogram. Stereograms are stereoscopic images or animations which combine left and right frames showing slightly different visual angles to allow for 3D perception.

The stereogram uses wiggle stereoscopy, which quickly oscillates between the left and right frame (and sometimes intermediate frames) to create an illusion of 3D perception without requiring stereoscopic vision or devices.
