Description
English: News of Ningshu Region in Xikang Province, China in October 1940 reported by the journal Xin Ningyuan Yuekang (literally, New Ningyuan Monthly) published in Xichang, Xikang. It contains the news that Chinese mathematician Zeng Jiongzhi (name also spelt as Chiungtze C. Tsen) died on 1st October 1940. Modern biographies of Zeng incorrectly state that he died in November 1940. According to the previous issue of the journal published on 25th October, Zeng was one of the invited writers for the journal, but he died before he could provide any article.
中文:1940年10月中國西康省寧屬地區要聞,刊於西康省西昌出版的《新寧遠月刊》,載有中國數學家曾炯之於1940年10月1日逝世的消息。現今的傳記錯誤記載他在1940年11月逝世。據該刊10月25日出版的前一期,曾炯之是該刊其中一位特約撰述,但生前未能供稿。

Works of Chinese origin that have entered the public domain in the U.S. due to certain circumstances (such as publication in noncompliance with U.S. copyright formalities) may have had their U.S. copyright restored under the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA) if the work was under copyright in its country of origin on the date that the URAA took effect in that country. (For the People's Republic of China, the URAA took effect on January 1, 1996. For the Republic of China (ROC), the URAA took effect on January 1, 2002.[1])
