Portrait of a young man of the Van Alphen family, probably Simon van Alphen. At knee-length, standing, leaning against a tree. He is gesturing with his left hand, holding his right hand against his side. In the background a landscape with a waterfall.

It is part of a series of paintings of members of the Van Alphen family, all of them containing a coat of arms on the frame.
