Summary

Description
English: NSWR Class CC79 (later Class Z13) 4-4-2T No.1301 in green livery at Trainworks, the New South Wales Railway Museum, Thirlmere, 31 March 2016. The Class CC79 locos were built as Class C79 (later Class Z12) 4-4-0's 1877-82 but, displaced from express passenger work by more modern, larger engines, in 1896-1902 NSWR's Eveleigh workshops rebuilt 20 as 4-4-2T's for suburban passenger work. They were in turn displaced from this work by larger, more modern engines and they were than allocated to branch lines, including the Picton - Thirlmere - Mittagong Loop Line. They were a typical Beyer Peacock design and as 4-4-2T's were very similar to the UK's Metropolitan Railway 4-4-0T's (but with larger bunkers).
