Summary

Description

A demonstration of needle tatting, a technique to produce a type of knotted lace. A #5 sized tatting needle is pictured being used with white DMC 80 mercerized cotton tatting thread. The needle is oversized for this thread to enhance the visibility of the knots. One completed closed ring is seen on the right side; composed of 4 segments of 5 double stitch knots separated by a picot. Another partially completed ring is seen still on the needle, where the groupings of 5 knots between picot spaces is clearly visible.
