Deutsch: Skulptur aus dem Jahre 1928 in der Nähe des Neanderthal-Museums. Die Tafel erklärt dazu:
„Dieser „Neanderthaler“ wurde um 1928 für den ehemaligen Biergarten des Restaurants Neanderhöhle von einem lokalen Künstler gefertigt und erhebt keinen Anspruch auf Wissenschaftlichkeit. Er ist inzwischen zu einem Stück Lokalgeschichte geworden.
Die Grundlage zur Herstellung der Figur entsprang der Phantasie des Künstlers und bediente das Klischee des gebeugten, keulenschwingenden Urmenschen. Unsere heutigen Techniken der wissenschaftlichen Rekonstruktion ermöglichen sehr genaue Angaben zum Erscheinungsbild von Neanderthalern. Sie zeigen, daß Neanderthaler entwickelte Menschen waren und - ordentlich gekleidet - im Straßenbild unserer Städte nicht sonderlich aufgefallen wären.
Im Neanderthal Museum finden Sie das größte Ensemble rekonstruierter Neanderthaler weltweit. Die dort ausgestellten, lebensechten Rekonstruktionen entsprechen dem letzten Kenntnisstand der Wissenschaft.“

"This „Neanderthal“ was made by a local sculptor for the "Neanderhöhle" restaurant’s former beer garden around 1928. While laying no claim to a scientifically accurate portrayal, it has become part of the areas’s heritage and local history.
The figure owes much to the artist’s imagination and the cliché of the crouched, club-swinging caveman of prehistoric times. Modern technology has enabled us to reconstruct the apperarance of the Neanderthals with great precision. We now know the Neanderthal to have been an advanced race who, if wearing modern clothes, would not look totally out of place on our city streets today.
The world’s largest ensemble of reconstructed Neanderthals is on display in the Neanderthal Museum. These exceptionally life-like figures reflect the latest scientific and archaeological research."
Esperanto: Ĉi-skulptaĵo de imagita Neandertalulo el la jaro 1928 troviĝas vid-al-vide de la Neandertal-muzeo. La klarigoj sur la ŝildo tekstas:
"Ĉi tiu „Neandertalulo“ estis farita ĉirkaŭ 1928 de loka skulptisto por bierĝardeno de la tiutempa restoracio „Neanderhöhle“. La verko, kiu ne pretendas esti science akurata portreto, fariĝis allogaĵo apartenanta al la loka tradicio.
La figuro respegulas la artistan imagpovon kaj la stereotipon pri kaŭriĝanta, klubosvinganta kavernhomo el prahistoriaj tempoj. Moderna teknologio - kontraŭe - ebligas rekonstruon de la Neandertaluloj kun granda precizeco. Ni hodiaŭ scias, ke la Neandertaluloj estis evoluinta raso de homoj, kiuj - se portantaj modernajn vestojn - apenaŭ distingeblus de aliaj homoj sur niaj stratoj.
