Deutsch: Der Tunnel 60. Straße oder die BMT 60th Street Line führt unmittelbar nördlich der Queensboro Bridge unter dem East River hindurch. Er verbindet die BMT Broadway Line in Manhattan mit den Knotenbahnhöfen Queensboro Plaza und Queens Plaza in Long Island City, Queens.
Der Tunnel entstand im Zuge der Doppelverträge. Ursprünglich sollte die U-Bahn die schon vorhandenen Hochbahngleise auf der Brücke mitbenutzen. Doch diese konnte das höhere Gewicht der U-Bahn-Wagen nicht tragen, und so baute man einen Häuserblock weiter nördlich diesen Tunnel. Die Hochbahn stellte ihren Betrieb 1942 ein. English: The BMT 60th Street Line tunnels under the East River just one block north of the Queensboro Bridge. It connects the BMT Broadway Line in Manhattan to the Queensboro Plaza and Queens Plaza stations in Long Island City, Queens. Original plans proposed an upgrade of already existing elevated tracks running over the bridge. But it was determined that the bridge would not be able to handle heavy subway trains; thus, the tunnel was constructed to the north.
