Summary

Description
English: This image shows the TOT-c structure of a muscovite crystal, viewed parallel to the layers. Oxygen ions are white, hydroxide or fluoride are light pink, tetrahedral silicon or aluminium are black, octahedral aluminium is dark blue, and potassium is light blue. The structure consists of layers, each composed of tetrahedral sheets bound to either side of an octahedral sheet, with the layers bound together by potassium ions. Alternate layers are slightly displaced, so that the structure is repeated every two layers.
