DescriptionMosasaurus hoffmanni.png	English: Skull based on reconstruction from Street and Caldwell (2017). The number of vertebrae based on photos of almost complete skeleton of Mosasaurus missouriensis (TMP 2012.010.0001) which gives a rather conservative size estimate - around 14 meters along a curve with a scale up to CCMGE 10/2469 with 171 cm lower jaw. Cervical and dorsal vertebrae based on MNHN AC 9648, IRSNB R26 and NHMM 006696 from Lingham-Soliar (1995) and Street & Caldwell (2017) papers as well as on the TMP 2012.010.0001. Tail completely based on TMP 2012.010.0001. Pectoral girdle, pelvic girdle, forelimb and hindlimb based on IRSNB R26, MNHN AC 9648, NHMM 1193024 and NHMM 006696. Rib cage scaled to fit TMP 2012.010.0001. Sternal elements speculative. A controversial part of reconstruction is the size of the limbs. I used data from Anne Schulp, not the scaling of limb bones of the IRSNB R12 from Lingham-Soliar (1995) because the latter specimen seems as young individual that may have disproportionately short limbs. The tail fluke is based on Lindgren et al. (2011) reconstruction, not on the ERMNH HFV 197, contrary to the recommendations of Lindgren in pers. due to sudden biomechanical problems with ERMNH HFV 197-like fluke in large mosasaurs.
