Summary

Description

Shared Lane Markings set too far to the right within the lane encourage cyclists to ride in the door zone of parked cars, and encourage motorists to overtake within the lane rather than safely sharing the road by changing lanes to pass.

The standard for sharrows sets the bare minimum distance from the curb, but the *intent* of sharrows is to locate them in the center of the effective travel lane. Installations like this demonstrate a "bare minimum to comply" approach that minimizes effort and ignores best practices.

Taken with a Freestyle HD video camera on a Minoura Handlebar Camera Mount.
