English: Montagu Edmund Parker (1737-1831) of Whiteway House, Chudleigh, Devon, Sheriff of Devon in 1789, younger brother of John Parker, 1st Baron Boringdon (1735-1788) of Saltram House, Plympton, Devon, whose son was John Parker, 1st Earl of Morley (1772-1840). Oval miniature portrait oil painting on copper dated 1780 (212mm x 181mm (8 1/2 x 7 1/4 in)) by John Downman (1750-1824), RA, signed and dated: J. Downman pinxit 1780. Half length to right, in pale green coat, yellow waistcoat and white stock. Provenance: Accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of Edmund Robert Parker, 4th Earl of Morley (1877-1951) and transferred to the National Trust in 1957. Collection of National Trust, ref: NT 872210, displayed at Saltram House.
