English: Mayuri, Origin: Over 500 years ago, material: Wood, Metal. Region: North India. The instrument is in the shape of a peacock. It is called "Taus" in North India. "Taus" is a Persian word meaning peacock. It is currently played in Punjab. The music from this instrument sounds like a peacock's call. It is played using a bow. It has 28-30 strongs. It is used to recite Guru Granth Sahib songs called "Shabad Keertan".
