Summary[edit]

panel of a Gil Jourdan story by Maurice Tillieux. Source:scan.© Dupuis

The idea is to illustrate a point in the article: "Whereas previous series like Tintin were based in spotlessly clean homes and locations, Jordan's world was made up of dusty offices, littered streets, wet docks and mud-splattered farms." This street scene makes the point.

Fair use rationale[edit]

It is believed that this image is subject to fair use in the article Maurice Tillieux because:

  1. The image is used for identification and critical commentary of the article's subject.
  2. The image is being used in an informative way and should not detract from the original work.
  3. The image is a web-resolution image, of lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of inferior quality).
  4. As only a panel from a multiple panel story, the image does not limit the copyright owner's ability to sell the issue from which it came.
  5. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to market or sell the work in any way.
  6. It depicts fictional subjects (such as a character) that is copyrighted.
  7. It would be impossible to create a replacement image which would not be subject to the original author's copyright.
  8. The image is only used to illustrate the fictional subject(s).
  9. It is used in Wikipedia only for educational purposes and is not used for profit.
  10. Its use on Wikipedia does not compete with the copyright holder.
  11. Its use on Wikipedia is not expected to decrease the value of the copyright to its holder.
