Portrait of Mary, Queen of Scots, after a face pattern by Clouet, oil on oak panel, 15 x 10 ¾ inches 38 x 27 cm. The inscription regina danglieterra, "Queen of England", indicates that the portrait was painted between the death of Mary I of England and the peace between Elizabeth I of England Elizabeth I's England and France in 1560. The source points out that Mary is wearing mourning, likely for her cousin Mary I of England.
