Description
English: The Mark 45 anti-submarine torpedo, a.k.a. ASTOR, was a weapon of the United States Navy designed for combat against high-speed, deep-diving enemy submarines, which incorporated a nuclear warhead. The warhead used in ASTOR had an explosive yield of 11 kilotons. See also en:Mark 45 torpedo. This example is on display at in Aiea, Hawaii, United States.
Deutsch: Der Mark 45 ASTOR (engl.: Mark 45 Anti-Submarine TORpedo) war ein Torpedo der United States Navy für den Kampf gegen schnelle und tief tauchende U-Boote, welcher mit einem 11-kT-Nuklearsprengkopf ausgestattet war. Verwendet wurde er zwischen 1963 und 1976. Siehe auch de:Mark-45-ASTOR.
