Summary

Description
English: The crystal structure of mambalgin-1, a 57-residue protein of the three-finger toxin (3FTx) family isolated from the venom of the black mamba. Mambalgins are potent inhibitors of acid-sensing ion channels. Unlike most 3FTx proteins, which are usually neurotoxins, mambalgins produce analgesia through ASIC inhibition without apparent toxic effect in laboratory tests.
