Summary

Description
English: Watercolour drawing of a Mahdist jibba. The jibba, which is held at the British Museum, was worn by a follower of the Mahdi in Sudan at the end of the 19th Century. The scrolled patch on the chest and the accentuated neckline suggest that the jibba was worn by a leader/officer of the Mahdist army.
