Description
English: Head of a votive mace with a lion-headed eagle (emblem of god Ningirsu) and six lions, dedicated at a shrine in Girsu by King Mesilim of Kish. Inscription in archaic script: “Mesilim, king of Kish, builder of the temple of Ningirsu, brought [this mace head] for Ningirsu, Lugalshaengur [being] prince of Lagash” (P. Pouysségur).
Français : Masse d'armes votive représentant un aigle à tête de lion (emblème du dieu Ningirsu) et six lions, vouée à un sanctuaire de Girsu par Mesilim, roi de Kish. Inscription en écriture archaïque : « Mesilim, roi de Kish, bâtisseur du temple de Ningirsu, (y) a apporté (cette masse) pour Ningirsu, Lugalshaengur (étant) prince de Lagash » (P. Pouysségur).
