Notes The drawing is the earliest known view of the Belvedere Statue Court in the Vatican, with the colossal statues of the 'Nile' and 'Tiber', as well as the 'Laocoön'. Heemskerck was in Rome from 1532-1537, but the drawing was certainly made at the beginning of his sojourn there, as the 'Laocoön' does not yet have the restored right arm added by Montorsoli between July 1532 and July 1533 [1]
