Summary

Description
English: MTM or Explosive Speedboat. Designed by Admiral Aimone di Sovoia Aosta. Used in WWII at Suda Bay (26 March 1941) and at Malta (26 July 1941). The boat was towed by a destroyer or MTB, launched at night it would make its way slowly towards an enemy base, then it was propelled at full speed towards its target. At a distance of about 200 m the rudder was locked and the pilot jettisoned. A 300 kg charge exploded on contact. Extant example in the Naval Museum (Museo storico navale), Venice.
