English: THE MOTTS WERE PROMINENT QUAKERS AND DEVELOPED THIS EARLY NINETEENTH-CENTURY INDUSTRIAL VILLAGE ON THE BANDS OF A ROCKAWAY RIVER TRIBUTARY. SEVERAL ENTERPRISES FLOURISHED HERE INCLUDING AN OIL MILL THAT GROUND FLAXSEED TO MAKE LINSEED USED TO MAKE PAINT. IT WAS ALSO A CARDING AND FULLING MILL AND A GRISTMILL. THE MOTT-DAVENPORT GRISTMILL FROM 1798 IS NOW A PRIVATE RESIDENCE AND IS PICTURED HERE.
