Summary

Description
English: Lune Viaduct at Waterside. This viaduct used to carry the "Little North Western" railway line from Clapham to Lowgill, thus forming a route for the Midland Railway from Skipton to reach Scotland. However with so much rivalry with the London and North Western whose tracks the Midland had to use over Shap, the Settle and Carlisle was built instead and this line became a rural branch. Although it did become useful as a diversionary route during the electrification of the West Coast Mainline, it fell victim to the Beeching Axe.
