Denkmal für die 10 gefallenen Deutschen Angehörigen der Schutztruppe die hier in einen Hinterhalt der Wahehe Krieger gerieten,ebenso wurden 300 Askaris und 170 Träger im Kampf getötet. Das Gefecht das 1 km vor dem heutigen Lugalo (21km vor Iringa an der heutigen Straße nach Dar es Salaam) stattfand war eine der größten Niederlagen Deutscher Kolonial Truppen in Ostafrika. Die Wahehe Krieger waren mit Pfeil und Bogen und mit Speer und Schild ausgerüstet,lediglich die Nachhut der Deutschen konnte entkommen. |
