Summary

Description
English: Arrival ceremony for Lockheed C-141A-10-LM Starlifter(Tail 63-8088) at Travis Air Force Base, CA on April 23, 1965.

Known as the "Golden Bear", This plane was the first production C-141 Starlifter to see active service. It was assigned to the 44th Air Transport Squadron, 1501st Air Transport Wing at Travis. The 60th Military Airlift Wing would go on to takeover the planes and host base responsibilities from the 1501st on January 6, 1966.

Originally built as a C-141A. Converted to C-141B in 1980. Retired in 2002. Now on Display at Travis AFB Museum, Fairfield, CA outside at the intersection of Boulevard and Travis Avenue below The old hospital. Restored in 2005 and placed at static display on September 16, 2005.
