Nur rund 700 der 2.200 Passagiere überleben. Aus Gründen der Haftung werden die Umstände der Katastrophe verschleiert, schnell überdecken Legenden das wahre Geschehen. Linda Maria Koldau hat die Dokumente über den Untergang neu gesichtet. Sie lässt die letzten Stunden auf dem schwimmenden Luxushotel lebendig werden und zeigt, wo die Legenden, Filme und Romane zum Untergang der Titanic an die Realität anknüpfen. Sie erklärt, was wir über den Luxusdampfer, seine Passagiere, die Umstände des Untergangs und das Wrack tatsächlich wissen. Linda Maria Koldau, Kulturwissenschaftlerin und Journalistin, ist Professorin für Musikwissenschaft und Kulturgeschichte an der Universität Aarhus in Dänemark. Einem größeren Publikum ist sie durch Artikel in der FAZ und zahlreiche Radiosendungen bekannt. |
