Summary

Description
English: Construction of a connection between the Lexington Branch and the Fitchburg mainline through East Arlington in October 1926. This connector (which restored the route used from 1846 to 1870) was constructed to allow Lexington Branch trains to use the Fitchburg mainline (rather than the Fitchburg Cutoff and the Lowell mainline) as part of freight yard improvements near North Station. The connector opened on April 24, 1927. The two-family house at right is 155 Thorndike Street.
